Oh yeah, I remember "I Know What Boys Like" when it came out in "82. I was living in Australia back then, and it hit like a bomb (which it didn"t in the US, which kinda makes me wonder). I was in my early teens and me and my mates at school loved the tune. "Sucker" (yank accent and all) was a popular quote among us.

I bought the single back in "82 and still have it; recently dug it up again and gave it a spin after more than 20 years! This song is so downright silly, it"s ingenious! It"s been elevated to a cult classic. The sassy attitude, the groovy bassline... and how can you forget "Nya-Nya-Nya-Nyaaaa-Nyaaaa"? You just can"t get it outta your head! :^)

They called it trash back then, but compared to this, today"s "music" is the real deal: genuine, bona fide T-R-A-S-H!

Boy, was I stunned to find the video on U-Boob (Tube) the other day. Watching it again after 25 years really brought back a flood of memories! It was only now that I discovered some of their other material which didn"t make it outside the US. I was also pretty saddened by Patty"s passing. Ironically, the video for IKWBL opens with a stogey in her hand.

Great job on your website, keep it up! Hope we"ll get the chance to see some videos here in the future.

God, give me back the 80s!!!

Seems like yesterday that I was listening to "I know what boys like" as it stood on the charts in a less than fitting ranking. Patty had that sassy, jaunty, lecturing style that nobody could duplicate. Great band and sound. So sad to hear of Patty"s passing. Though I was a teen in the 60"s, the early 80"s had a sound and unmistakable identity that I love - and the music lives on!

So sad to hear about Patty"s death. I was around when the Waitresses came about and loved them. I also don"t remember that they did the theme song for Square Pegs, a show that I loved and keep hoping will come out on DVD. I"m glad I stumbled on this site, thank you!

Great site, glad I ran across it!

As much as I want to stay current with music, I always come back to the music from my high school and college days! I just did not want to be like my parents, stuck listening to music from their younger days, you know?!

I seem to use a lot of exclamation points/marks as well, maybe that"s another commonality of our generation?!

Just saw (and recorded but somehow managed to delete it accidentally, damn it!!) the film clip to the song I Know What Boys Like and being a massive Devo and B-52"s fan I loved em straight away. Thanks for the info on the site, just wish I didn"t delete the video which had the rip on it as it was HD quality, which would have been nice to share with you guys

It"s nice to find this site. I really like that song they do "I know what boys like." I was very sad to learn that the singer had died. What they say about smoking is true, I"m afraid. Thanks for your good work!

I miss the Waitresses and Patty especially. Loved the group so much and had such a crush on Patty. Just so sad when I heard she had died. I was in the class of "85 and the Waitresses music seemed to be the soundtrack to my highschool career. Wonderful photo gallery here!
