First discovered the Waitresses when I was 14–in 2002. I’ve absolutely loved their music ever since. Looking back, they were kind of like a girl-led musical answer to Harvey Pekar’s “American Splendor” comics—a bunch of terminally bored people, too smart for their own good, trapped in the middle of nowhere. I identified with their lyrics so easily and they still remain relevant to me 16 years later. You have to understand how refreshing all this was to a teen trapped in the “Sex and the City” era and unable to relate to some of the more phony depictions of female life at the time! The Waitresses truly are timeless and every girl should hear them at least once in her lifetime.

I still can’t believe that Patty Donahue passed on a full 6 years before I discovered her unique, off-kilter vocal talent. I had no idea while I was first listening to their albums. She deserves to be widely remembered.

The Waitresses were one of the best 80"s bands. Wasn"t Tomorrow Wonderfel is a masterpiece & did not get the acclaim it deserved. Chris Buttler wrote awesome lyrics & Patty Donahue definatly delivered on vocals.

I thank you and appreciate your wonderous work
I bumped into a tune of theirs recently , which triggered a "whats was that song" and then when Wikipedia didnt show the title I found you
"Pussy Strut" , amazing piece , the lyrics and delivery of them always brings a huge grin to my face ... all the math, physics, science , balanced with "look at the butt , pussy strut"
Thanks again , I often forget my past and you have provided me the gift of memories

I was in my early teens when the Waitresses were popular with the wave crowd and of course they were a staple every year at Christmas. I for some reason just now wanted to find out what became of them. They split the year I graduated. Great years. I wish they had done more and that I could get more of their music, I wasn"t expecting such an early death. Now they just have a place in my memories, of the best years of my life. Thank you for this site.. :)

Patty was an Underrated Goddess. She should be considered one of the Great Voices. Her voice is instantly recognizible. No woman could Sing with the Sassy, Independent, Snarky, DeadPan delivery that she could. And no woman ever will come close to replacing her. Kinda like Karen Carpenter.

RIP Patty. You had so much of a bigger impact on Music History than most think. Such a Wonderful lady. You Lived and Died a Legend. Always will be a Legend

Thanks very much for spending the time in putting the site together. Useful, informative and easy to read. Does it make me a bad person that I deliberately do not listen to the Waitresses apart from Christmas! It"s one of the great things about the holiday when "Wrapping" is played on the Radio. The only down side is the easy access to the lyrics and my rubbish voice! Thanks again, Steve
